Freelance After Effects Motion Designer, Flexible Hours

About the role

Babou AI is a small startup building AI powered video tools for brands. This role owns freelance After Effects work on a weekly flow, including product and UI animation, ad templates, social cuts, and launch videos based on written briefs.

What you'll do

• Create motion graphics primarily in After Effects, with emphasis on design, timing, and polished renders
• Deliver work from written briefs and meet deadlines without hand holding
• Organize and clean project files with named layers and structured precomps
• Communicate progress in Slack and respond to notes while keeping feedback fixed in future versions
• Fix issues in projects independently when something breaks
• Collaborate with the team to improve workflows and tool usage, including AI assisted tools when applicable

What they're looking for

• Strong After Effects skills as your main tool, with a motion graphics reel showing more than editing
• Good design eye for type, layout, spacing, and color; able to justify design decisions
• Ability to interpret briefs and deliver polished renders on deadline
• Experience with clean project files, organized layers, and precomps
• Self managing and capable of async work, with comfortable English communication
• Nice to have: expressions, exposed controls, Figma to AE, kinetic type, AI video tools
