Engineering Manager (RCL)

About the role

FairMoney is a pioneering mobile banking institution focused on extending credit in emerging markets. It started with a digital microcredit app on Android and iOS and now offers current and savings accounts, debit cards, and POS solutions for merchants and agents. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team building and scaling the lending and credit technology that powers these products.

What you'll do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a software engineering team to build scalable lending and credit systems.
• Own the technical direction and delivery of backend services and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Data, and other teams to define technical solutions and priorities.
• Drive design, development, testing, and observability to improve reliability.
• Set engineering standards, participate in architecture decisions, and support incident management and hiring.

What they're looking for

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with significant backend development.
• 2+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams.
• Hands-on coding experience; able to design and code the new system and lead by example.
• Experience designing and building distributed, scalable backend applications, ideally in fintech or payments.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency in golang with some React frontend experience preferred.
