Engineering Manager (Java/Kotlin Stack)

About the role

Plata is building the systems behind its financial products and this role leads a backend engineering team. You will own delivery, technical direction and people growth, working with product and other engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable services.

What you'll do

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of engineers including hiring, onboarding and performance feedback
• Own team delivery, priorities and roadmaps while balancing quality, scope and timelines
• Drive technical strategy and architecture for high‑load, distributed systems
• Collaborate with product and stakeholders to translate business goals into services
• Improve engineering practices across the team, including testing, observability and CI/CD

What they're looking for

• 3+ years of experience leading a software engineering team
• 5+ years of hands‑on backend development in robust, high‑scale distributed systems
• Strong Java/Kotlin experience, JVM ecosystem, Kubernetes and AWS
• Experience designing and operating production systems with high throughput and reliability
• Product‑oriented mindset with ability to tie technical work to business metrics
• English at B2 or higher for international collaboration
