Director of Finance

About the role

ActionAid Nigeria is an anti-poverty NGO working to eradicate injustices and poverty. The Director of Finance provides leadership over financial health, governance and strategic financial planning for the country office based in Abuja.

What you'll do

• Lead long term and annual financial planning, forecasting and scenario analysis in line with organisational priorities.
• Oversee budgeting, treasury management and governance to ensure financial sustainability and risk control.
• Drive financial reporting, compliance with donor standards and regulatory requirements, and internal control improvements.
• Provide financial leadership for fundraising, partnerships, and social enterprise initiatives.
• Lead and develop the finance team, improve financial literacy across the organisation and partner networks.
• Represent the organisation in national and international finance discussions and support board oversight.

What they're looking for

• Master’s degree in accounting or finance and recognised professional qualification (ICAN, ACCA, ANAN).
• At least 15 years of post NYSC experience with 10+ years post-qualification and 6+ years in a senior management role.
• Experience implementing financial control systems and strong governance orientation.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams, manage budgets, and communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience with donor funding, international finance frameworks and Nigerian regulatory requirements.
• Strategic thinking, risk management, and strong collaboration with senior leadership.
