The Card Operations Manager will own the end-to-end card operations, ensuring operational stability, regulatory and scheme compliance, accurate reconciliation and settlement, effective fraud controls, efficient issuance and personalisation, and a consistently positive cardholder experience.
What you'll do
- Manage end-to-end card operations including issuance, personalisation, activation, transaction processing, reconciliation, settlement and dispute management.
- Ensure card operations comply with CBN, NIBSS and card schemes such as Mastercard, Verve, Visa and AfriGO, and implement required regulatory changes.
- Oversee card issuance, personalisation and inventory management, including activation and distribution, maintaining adequate stock levels.
- Oversee daily processing, reconciliation and settlement to ensure timely resolution of discrepancies and accurate data for reporting.
- Strengthen fraud prevention and card security in collaboration with Risk and Information Security teams.
- Manage vendor and partner relationships with processors, personalisation bureaus and card schemes, monitoring SLAs and escalating issues as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Information Technology or related discipline; professional certifications in cards, payments, banking operations, risk, fraud or project management would be an advantage.
- 5-7 years in banking, fintech, payments or card operations, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Strong practical knowledge of debit and/or credit card operations and experience with card schemes such as Mastercard, Verve and AfriGO.
- Good understanding of card transaction processing, reconciliation, settlement, disputes, chargebacks, fraud management and card personalisation.
- Familiarity with CBN, NIBSS and applicable payment-card regulatory requirements and experience managing processors, card bureaus and third-party service providers.
- Strong vendor and stakeholder management, analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
