Staff Engineer, Full Stack (Trust, Safety & Risk)

About the role

Phantom is building a global trading app focused on open markets and self custody. As a Staff Engineer for Full Stack in Trust, Safety and Risk, you will own the systems that detect abuse, manage risk, and protect users across the stack.

What you'll do

• Design and operate real time risk controls and decisioning systems for money movement features
• Develop signals, models, and interventions to detect scam, abuse, and malicious activity
• Build scalable KYC, sanctions screening, monitoring, and audit infrastructure
• Create data pipelines and tools combining on-chain activity, product data, and external signals
• Collaborate with product and engineering to embed safeguards into new features
• Help establish technical foundations and engineering culture for a new risk function

• 8+ years of full-time software engineering experience
• Experience designing and operating data-intensive production systems
• Ability to work across frontend, backend, APIs, data pipelines and third party integrations
• Strong product judgment balancing user experience with financial risk and complexity
• Demonstrated interest in protecting users and building trustworthy financial products
• Nice to have: experience with fraud, risk, identity, KYC, AML, or fintech systems
