SDK Engineer - Python

About the role

Supabase is the Postgres development platform offering a complete backend solution. This role owns building and evolving the Python SDK across database, auth, storage, realtime and functions, with both sync and async APIs.

What you'll do

• Build and evolve the Python SDK across multiple services with sync and async APIs
• Triage issues, review contributions, and maintain CI and release automation
• Own the typing experience, ensuring the SDK is fully typed and checker-friendly
• Ensure compatibility across multiple Python versions and environments
• Write RFCs, migration guides, release notes and docs
• Collaborate across teams and design in public to maintain transparency

What they're looking for

• Strong modern Python typing knowledge including generics, protocols, overloads, and TypedDict
• Experience authoring or maintaining a public library with a public API
• Hands-on experience with asyncio and serving both sync and async callers
• Knowledge of Python packaging, pyproject.toml, wheels, and dependency management
• Experience with issue triage, release automation, changelogs, and semver
• Ability to write clear docs, migrations, and communicate well across technical teams
