FinOps Data Engineer

About the role

Supabase is building open source tools for developers and data teams. This FinOps Data Engineer owns the data side of cloud cost management, including models, pipelines, and analysis to make cost, usage, and margin numbers trustworthy across the company.

What you'll do

• Find and ship savings across AWS and GCP by analyzing billing and usage patterns
• Build and maintain the FinOps data pipeline with BigQuery and dbt models
• Develop cost-vs-revenue and customer segmentation models for margin analysis
• Apply data science methods for forecasting and anomaly detection in cost data
• Automate cost governance with reporting, alerting, and infrastructure-as-code scripts
• Collaborate with Engineering and Finance to influence architecture and budgeting

What they're looking for

• Strong AWS expertise and working knowledge of GCP pricing models and cost optimization
• Data engineering depth with dbt, BigQuery or equivalent warehouse, SQL at scale, and data modeling
• Data science fundamentals for forecasting and anomaly detection
• Automation and scripting skills in Python, Terraform or Pulumi, Lambda, or Bash
• Experience with cost tooling (AWS Cost Explorer, Cost Usage Reports, GCP Billing Reports) and BI/dashboarding
• Ability to communicate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
