Senior Data Scientist, Safety & Security

About the role

The Wikimedia Foundation is a nonprofit organization that operates Wikipedia and other free knowledge projects. As Senior Data Scientist, Safety & Security, you will help guide anti abuse and security strategy as part of the Product Analytics team, collaborating with product managers, engineers, and the Product Safety and Integrity team to inform product decisions and measurement of bot detection and other security interventions.

What you'll do

• Serve as a strategic partner for product managers, engineers, designers, and other colleagues in product development teams.
• Proactively make recommendations on product direction and data strategy, surfacing insights and interpreting results.
• Build and execute measurement strategy, evaluate experiments using Bayesian and Frequentist approaches, and conduct quantitative research to inform product decisions.
• Develop queries and code to work with large scale data repositories using tools such as Hive, Presto, Druid, Spark, and build automated dashboards using DBT, Airflow, and Superset.
• Clearly communicate results and data backed recommendations to stakeholders across functions to guide decision making.

• Experience collaborating with product development teams in a fast paced environment to test, analyze, and evaluate user facing features for an online platform.
• Ability to explain data and insights clearly to non specialist audiences and demonstrate curiosity and critical thinking.
