Senior Backend Engineer, Consumer Growth

About the role

Sword Health is building AI powered care solutions and has created an AI native, 24/7 care program across multiple health domains. As a Senior Backend Engineer in Consumer Growth, you will own backend services that help people discover products, become paying members, and stay engaged, spanning acquisition, onboarding, subscriptions, and retention.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs supporting the consumer journey across web, Android, and iOS
• Build subscription and payment capabilities including checkout, entitlements, renewals, and lifecycle events
• Enable targeted experiences through feature flags and controlled experiments
• Implement event instrumentation and integrations to analyze acquisition, funnel performance, and behavior
• Collaborate with Product and Data to define hypotheses and measure results
• Improve performance and reliability with focus on payment correctness and data consistency

What they're looking for

• Experience building and operating production backend services with strong TypeScript skills
• Solid API design, relational databases, data modeling, and automated testing
• Understanding of asynchronous processing and distributed systems, including retries and idempotency
• Ability to translate product goals into pragmatic technical solutions and trade-offs
• Familiarity with product analytics, instrumentation, and experimentation
• Experience diagnosing production issues using logs, metrics, and tracing
