Senior Software Engineer (RCL)

About the role

FairMoney is a pioneering mobile banking institution focused on extending credit in emerging markets. Established in 2017, the company currently operates primarily within Nigeria. The Senior Software Engineer will join our engineering team to design and build reliable, scalable backend systems powering lending and credit products.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and distributed systems.
• Develop reliable APIs and services that support lending and credit products.
• Design, optimise, and maintain relational databases and data models.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability bottlenecks.
• Build systems with strong consideration for availability, fault tolerance, security, and data consistency.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

What they're looking for

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend development.
• Experience designing and building distributed systems and scalable backend applications.
• Experience in lending, credit, fintech, payments, or related financial domain.
• Strong relational database design, indexing, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with microservices architectures.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and production software development.
