As a Principal Infrastructure Architect on the Infrastructure Architecture team, you will set technical direction across cloud, networking, security posture, and delivery, and partner with engineering teams to move the platform forward. This is a generalist role with room to deepen depth in a few areas and lead pattern adoption from prototype to production.
What you'll do
- Design and maintain reference patterns for GKE including topology, workload identity, autoscaling, upgrades, and multi-tenancy, delivered as Terraform modules and GitOps workflows.
- Define standard cloud network patterns and baseline security controls in partnership with security architects (shared VPC, IAM inheritance, private connectivity, load balancing, DNS, egress, cost modeling).
- Partner with platform engineering on IaC standards, policy gates, SLO practices, multi-region and DR patterns with RTO/RPO targets, capacity planning, and observability defaults.
- Establish cost and performance patterns such as bin-packing, right-sizing, and egress tracking, and collaborate with FinOps on runtime spend.
- Host design reviews, write ADRs, expand the standards library, and run structured POCs of new technologies and vendor offerings as part of the procurement process.
