Program Director, Uganda

About the role

GiveDirectly has delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty across 15 countries since 2011. The Uganda Programs team is the largest department in the country office and the Program Director will own day-to-day delivery of all Uganda programs, manage budgets and risk, and serve as deputy to the Country Director.

What you'll do

• Lead day-to-day delivery of all Uganda programs, ensuring they run on time, on budget, and meet benchmarks for efficiency, quality, and impact.
• Build and maintain robust operational systems and standards to support a growing portfolio of projects and funding sources.
• Serve as the primary internal owner of program execution, proactively identifying bottlenecks, resolving cross-functional dependencies, and ensuring smooth implementation.
• Own program scale and expansion strategy for field operations in line with organizational goals.
• Directly manage Senior Managers and act as deputy to the Country Director to maintain leadership continuity when the CD is unavailable.

• 10+ years of relevant experience in non-profit country management, organizational leadership, program management, or related fields with increasing responsibility.
• Direct-delivery program leadership at scale with sound financial and risk judgment.
• Strong understanding of the cash and poverty reduction space, including social safety net and policy.
• Advanced partnership capabilities including new business, negotiation, and consortium management.
• Team management experience and outstanding relationship management abilities, including with senior audiences; strong written and verbal communication.
