GiveDirectly is a nonprofit delivering cash transfers to people in poverty worldwide. This role will build the Business Affairs capability and serve as the primary legal partner to our global functions, handling complex corporate, commercial, funding, and nonprofit relationships, including data partnerships and regulatory matters.
What you'll do
- Build the Business Affairs function and act as primary legal partner to global teams across Partnerships, Fundraising, People, Finance, Communications, Technology, Product, Grants Management, and public affairs.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate complex partnerships, funding arrangements, technology and vendor agreements, and other strategic transactions.
- Advise on corporate, commercial, employment, privacy, nonprofit, and operational matters and develop practical templates and playbooks for recurring work.
- Lead legal strategy for Data Partnerships and other strategic initiatives, including data privacy and regulatory considerations.
- Draft and negotiate NDAs, data-sharing agreements, MoUs, and coordinate with regulators or government partners as needed.
- Collaborate with Product, Technology, and program teams and coordinate with external counsel to scale legal capabilities and standards.
