The Data Privacy & Protection Director provides expertise in data privacy and protection matters and ensures compliance with the Nigerian Data Protection Act 2023 and other applicable laws.
The role oversees the data protection strategy, manages data protection policies and procedures, and leads DPIAs and data breach response as part of the organization’s compliance framework.
What you'll do
- Lead the data privacy governance framework for NDPA 2023, including Binding Corporate Rules.
- Develop and implement standards, policies, and procedures to meet NDPA 2023 and other regulations.
- Manage Data Protection Impact Assessments and oversee data breach response planning and execution.
- Liaise with regulators, financial institutions, customers, and third-party processors on privacy matters.
- Drive awareness and training for employees, vendors, and data subjects on data protection rights and responsibilities.

- 10+ years hands-on experience in data protection, compliance or related field with deep knowledge of NDPA.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field; Master’s in information security or law preferred.
- Demonstrated track record managing data privacy in complex organizations, including audits, DPIAs and data breach responses.
- Professional certifications in data protection/privacy such as CISSP, CIPM, CIPP, CPT, CDPSE or CDPO are highly preferred.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management with regulators, IT teams, and business functions.
