Team Leader, SRE

About the role

Remote helps organizations recruit, pay, and manage international teams across borders. This role leads Remote's SRE team responsible for Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL, CI infrastructure, and the observability stack, while driving reliability practices and team development. It is a 60% individual contributor and 40% leadership role.

What you'll do

• Lead and develop the SRE team, owning the career development of direct reports and their performance.
• Steer the team's technical direction for Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL, CI infrastructure, and the observability stack.
• Establish and run reliability practices including incident response, on call, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Balance operational load with project delivery while protecting the team's focus and reliability commitments.
• Serve as the team’s spokesperson to engineering leadership and collaborate with Security and vendor relationships to support the platform.

What they're looking for

• People leadership experience heading an SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering team and owning reports growth, performance and career progression.
• Hands-on technical depth in site reliability or cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes in production and AWS at meaningful scale.
• Experience with observability and infrastructure as code, for example Terraform, CI/CD tooling, Docker and scripting.
• Experience running a reliability practice with incident response, on-call, SLOs, and turning incidents into durable changes.
• Familiarity with working in regulated environments and collaborating with security and other cross functional teams.
