Staff Software Engineer, Service Infrastructure

About the role

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform used by millions of companies to accept payments and grow revenue. The Service Infrastructure team builds and expands the service frameworks, interfaces, and tooling that keep Stripe's systems reliable, performant, and scalable. This Technical Lead role owns leading a team, aligning engineering work with Stripe's service roadmap, and advancing service oriented architecture across the organization.

What you'll do

• Lead a team of engineers, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure their success
• Partner with Engineering Managers to create roadmaps that deliver milestones toward a cohesive engineering vision
• Understand user needs and pain points to prioritize work and deliver high quality solutions
• Drive end to end project execution from planning to delivery while maintaining high standards and timely completion
• Provide hands on technical leadership for architecture, design, incident response processes
• Build a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes innovation and knowledge sharing

• 12+ years of technical experience and 5+ years in a strategic technical leadership role
• Experience leading engineering teams on API design, abstractions, frameworks, or client libraries
• Hands on experience building infrastructure and products for internal or external customers
• Proficient in Java, Ruby, Python, or Go
• Strong written and verbal communication for different audiences
• Experience with infrastructure platforms, distributed teams, incident response, and serverless platforms
