About the role

Pendo's Core team builds features and platform capabilities that power critical areas of the product experience. This Sr. Software Engineer role owns complex problem spaces, applies strong engineering judgment, and drives initiatives forward with independent accountability. The role is based in our Raleigh office and emphasizes delivery speed, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

What you'll do

• Own complex, ambiguous features end-to-end and structure work into small, independently shippable increments
• Write production‑ready code and define testing approaches based on risk and impact
• Respond quickly to production issues and drive follow-up improvements to prevent recurrence
• Use AI tools as a core part of daily development workflows for code generation, debugging, test writing, and task decomposition
• Provide actionable code reviews, accurate documentation, and constructive input in planning discussions
• Identify recurring friction points and proactively improve development speed, safety, and maintainability

• 5+ years of software engineering delivering customer-facing SaaS features in production
• Ability to break ambiguous work into small deliverables and drive forward independently
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Go, Java, Python, or C++ and understanding of scalable web architecture and API design
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), SQL and NoSQL databases, and testing strategies including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests plus safe deployment patterns
• Active use of AI tools in development and strong communication and cross-functional collaboration
