About the role
Consensys seeks an experienced Director of Technical Accounting to lead interpretation and implementation of complex accounting standards across the organization. This role serves as the company's U.S. GAAP subject-matter expert, partnering with Finance, Legal, FP&A and business teams to ensure accurate, compliant accounting for complex and non-routine transactions, including digital assets. This is a highly visible role with direct exposure to senior leadership and external auditors.
What you'll do
Research, interpret, and apply new and existing accounting standards to company transactions, including revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, stock-based compensation, debt and equity instruments, consolidation, and impairment.
Evaluate and document accounting for digital asset and crypto related transactions, including holdings, token issuances, staking, and other blockchain-native arrangements.
Draft clear technical accounting memos and position papers for complex or judgmental events, including new products, M&A activity, and financing arrangements.
Monitor emerging guidance from the FASB, SEC, and PCAOB; lead the implementation of new standards and cross-functional rollout.
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors on technical accounting matters; collaborate with Legal, Treasury, Revenue, FP&A and business units on contracts and strategic initiatives.
What they're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA license active and in good standing.
12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or a technical accounting role; deep U.S. GAAP knowledge and SEC reporting familiarity.
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex accounting concepts for non-accounting audiences; strong project management and multitasking.
Preferred: experience with digital assets and cryptocurrency accounting, including ASC 350-60, token economics, DeFi and staking; public company exposure and interaction with external auditors; M&A and system implementations; leadership experience.
